Undersea Scuba Diving Notes

Undersea Scuba Diving Notes

There are very few activities on land that match the feeling of freedom that you get when swimming in the ocean or any large body of water. That feeling of submersion and using your body in ways that are simple impossible on land without the use of some device and even then it only last seconds at a time. A way to expand that feeling is snorkeling or scuba diving. The ability to spend longer periods of time underwater to see what you can discover is simply amazing. It could be compared to going on a sub aqueous hiking trip. There are certain advantages and cons to snorkeling compared to scuba diving and vice versa. The equipment uses when snorkeling is minimalist when compared to scuba gear. A dive mask, a snorkel and fins are usually the oily apparatuses necessary to go on a snorkel adventure. You also of course require scuba flippers, a ladies scuba suit or a mens scuba suit.

To go scuba diving in addition to those items you would have to acquire a wetsuit, an scuba oxygen tank, and a scuba breathing regulator. The addition of all these items is the definition of scuba: Self Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus. The type of diving you intend to do is what will determine the type of equipment that you require. If you will mainly be located in shallower water, possible along a reef or not very distant from land then snorkeling would be the proper solution. If you intend to go deep sea diving, then you would be in need of scuba equipment along with receiving the proper training. Before you would be allowed to venture into the depths of the ocean it is necessary to get proper instruction on how to operate your scuba gear, chance of encountering a risk is amplified by your location and the use of complicated equipment.

Once you are properly trained you will have the confidence and understanding how to operate at greater depths and for an elongated period of time immersed under water. This is not to say that snorkeling does not provide the opportunity to witness the miracles that occur underwater. You just have limitations in range and time when using a snorkel device. Either option you decide provides you with and adventure that can not be emulated. If its your first time trying underwater explorations, you should start out snorkeling and progress your way to scuba diving. This way you’ll get to enjoy both activities and stick with the one you enjoy most.
