The South Shore Rail Cats are a professional baseball team that is based in Gary, Indiana. They had officially changed their names from South Shore Rail Cats to Gary South Shore Rail Cats in September 2001. They are also the members of the American Association of Independent Professional Baseball. They have played most of their career games starting from 2002 at the Steel Yard, US.

In the beginning they had started off as a member of the Northern League and had performed exceptionally well then with their five consecutive series win from 2005 to 2009. The team color of the South Shore Rail Cats varies between green, maroon, silver and black.

The owners of the South Shore Rail Cats are Patrick Salvi and his wife Linda Salvi and the manager is Andy Viano. Apart from the Playoff Appearances, the South Shore Rail Cats won the Division Title thrice in 2006, 2007 and 2009 and League Championship in 2005 and 2007.

The South Shore Rail Cats are currently not in the best of shape and their performance is not up to the mark which is why they are not rising up to higher levels in the tournament play offs.
