The Rockets Power Dancers

The Rockets Power Dancers

The cheerleaders of the National Basketball Association or NBA’s franchise the Houston Rockets. The tremendous energy, the brilliant and eye catching routine, as well as the passion they show for the game and the Rockets as well have made the Power Dancers huge favorites among the fans of the franchise for many years now and they get as much a rousing reception when they enter the court as the players of the Rockets do.

Apart from cheering on the Rockets during home matches, the Power dancers have also been known to make themselves available to the fans at the various charity and corporate events that are hosted by the franchise. Moreover, they have also gone on tour with the Rockets to the Far East including as well as Bosnia, Turkey, Great Britain and many others. The Rockets Power Dancers have also been featured on the cover spread of the Maxim magazine, Yahoo Sports as well as on the official website of the NBA. Complex Magazine voted the Power Dancers as the Pro Cheerleading Team of the Year and they were also featured on Sports-Center’s Top 5 Plays of the Day.

The group was established in 1994 and currently consists of 22 girls, who are all top level athletes themselves apart from being fabulous dancers. Susie Boudwin, nicknamed as Sweet Susie is a six year veteran of the Power Dancers and is the current captain of the Rockets Power Dancers. The group is definitely not superstitious but there are certain traditions that they abide by. For example, the first game of the pre-season every year is kicked off by veterans of the Power Dancers, and two signature routines that are a must for them at every game are the Red Alert and Back in Black. Upon completion of their first full season as a Power dancer, a second year veteran is handed her own customized ring.
