The Patriots Cheerleaders
They consist of a group of 31 dancers who are the designated cheerleaders for the New England Patriots, one of the foremost franchises in the NFL or the National Football League in the United States of America. The squad of cheerleaders for the New England patriots was established in 1977 when the board of the franchise felt that something needed to be done to entertain the crowd, whose number was dwindling by the day at the time mainly because the team was not performing too well and because there was no other entertainment at the home ground unlike some other grounds which had already started employing full time cheerleading squads.
The Patriots Cheerleaders can also be found at any event for the corporate sponsors or for charity that is held by the New England Patriots at any place, be it at the headquarters of the team or on the field itself. The current team of cheerleaders includes Alexa, Ali, Amanda R, Amber, Ashley, Amanda S, Asia, Brianna K, Brianna M, Athena, Brittney-Lynne, Britni, Casey, Heather, Cassie, Jessica T, Jessica A, Kathryn, Jodie, Kelsey, Kayla, Michelle, Lauren, Sallie, Randi, Sarah, Sara, Stephanie S, Stephanie P and Siobahn. These cheerleaders are not full time dancers, in fact, most are employed in some field or the other and do the dancing for the Patriots out of their passion and support for the team.
The Patriots Cheerleaders also run a youth development program where they develop young cheerleaders who dance for the school or college cheerleading team and nourish them so that they would one day serve the patriots themselves. Being one of the most popular bunch of cheerleaders, most of these girls have also made vari0ous television appearances, with the team as well as solo ones. Auditions are held for the squad just before pre-season.
