Shaquille O’Neal, also known as ‘Shaq’, is one of the finest professional basketball players of all time. He was born in March 6, 1972 in Newark, New Jersey. He measures 7 feet and 1 inch tall and weighs 325 pounds. He grew up with his mother Lucille and stepfather Phillip A. Harrison. Although his biological father is still alive, which is Joseph Toney, he never speaks with him.

Life Outside of Basketball: In addition to basketball, Shaq also dabbled in rapping and acting. Of course, he’s more known for his power on the court. He went to Louisiana State University where he played college basketball. Afterwards, he was drafted by the Orlando Magic in 1992.

Teams: In the year 1992, Shaquille O’Neal was drafted with the 1st overall pick by the Orlando Magic where he later on teamed up with Penny Hardaway to be one of the most exciting duos in the league. In the year 1996, Shaq signed the contract with the Lost Angeles Lakers where he won an amazing three consecutive NBA championships from 2000 to 2002 where he received the recognition of MVP of the NBA Finals for each season. On July 14, 2004, the Miami Heat traded a package centered around Lamar Odom to the Los Angeles Lakers in exchange for Shaquille O’Neal. In 2008, the Phoenix Suns traded Shawn Marion and Marcus Banks for O’Neal from the Miami Heat. In June 2009, the Cleveland Cavaliers traded Sasha Pavlovic, Ben Wallace, $500,000 and a second round draft pick for the big man. The last team he signed a contract for was the Boston Celtics where he played for a year. And on June 3, 2011, he announced his retirement via a press conference at his home in Orlando.

Professional Basketball Awards: Shaquille O’Neal has been awarded as the NBA Rookie of the Year in 1993. This proved that he was already a great player at the start of this career. He is also a regular fixture at all-star games. He also won the title of ALL-Star Game MVP three times on 2000, 2004 and 2009. O’Neal had also been awarded as the NBA’s Most Valuable Player on 2000. He was also awarded as the FIBA World Championship Most Valuable Player and he was also awarded with the NBA Scoring Champion award twice. Shaq has been in the NBA All-Star Game 15 times. He had also been in the NBA All-Star First Team eight times and been in the All-Defensive Second Team for three times.
