Salem Red Sox: Salems Pride

Salem Red Sox: Salems Pride: Salem Red Sox, which is based in Salem, Virginia, is an A-Advanced baseball team in the minor division. The team was founded in 1968 and had been playing under various names. The team had also been playing under various affiliations. Various Owners: The team was bought by a local resident of Salem in 1986 so that the city can retain the team when the Red Sox was dreaded to be moved to another place from Salem, Virginia. Kevin Bowles, the major league baseball scout who bought the team, had sold it in 2006 to a pair of businessmen from Atlanta. Just a year after the team was bought by the pair of businessmen in Atlanta, the Salem Red Sox was sold to Fenway Sports Group, which is a subsidiary of the group that also owned the Boston Red Sox.

Name Changes: The team had had many monikers since its foundation in 1968. The team started out as the Salem Rebels in 1955 and had used the name until they have changed it to Salem Pirates in 1972. The team had then become the Salem Redbirds in 1981 and had used the name for five years. In 1987, the team had then changed its name to Salem Buccaneers. They have used the moniker until 1994. The name of the team had then been changed into the Salem Avalanche in 1995 until 2008. In 2009, the team had finally announced their current name, the Salem Red Sox. Different Mascots: Because the team was owned by various managements and had been affiliated with various major league baseball teams, the Red Sox had various mascots. In 1997, the team had the Mugsy mascot, which debuted in professional baseball. The team had a female mascot in 2005 named Misty.

They also had two mascots named Lefty and Righty. The team also had a giant snowman as its mascot, named Big Mo. The Red Sox also had a mascot that resembled a nut. The idea was original but it did not catch much attention as it is not very friendly in appearance. Titles and Awards: Even though the team had a long history of changing managements, names, logos and mascots, the Salem Red Sox managed to win a number of titles. The team had won four league titles in 1972, 1974, 1987 and 2001. The team had also won nine division titles in 1968, 1969, 1972, 1974, 1981, 1987, 1988, 2006 and 2009.
