Portland Sea Dogs
Portland Sea Dogs is the name of a sports team that has been affiliated to Double-A in the minor league by the Red Sox of Boston. The team is from Portland in Maine and it was established in the year of 1994. The team plays in the division of north in Eastern League. During the season of 2003, Portland Sea Dogs turned into a part of system of Red Sox.
Before that, Portland Sea Dogs had their affiliation with the Marlins of Florida. The team tasted success after having changed the affiliation for they went in 2006 as well as 2005 to the seasons of the championship series of Eastern League. It was in the year of 2006, on the 17th of September that Portland Sea Dogs won a title for the first time ever. Portland Sea Dogs defeated Akron Aeros with a score of 8-5. The farm team of Red Sox had won a Double-A championship last time was back in 1983. At that time, they were from New Britain in Connecticut.
The stadium, where the home games of the Portland Sea Dogs are played is called the Hadlock Field. The capacity of seating of the stadium is 7,368. This stadium is named after, Edison Hadlock who had been a baseball coach in the school of Portland High.
