Mesa Solar Sox: Affiliations and achievements

The Mesa Solar Sox are a minor league baseball team that is based in Mesa, Arizona. The club was founded in 1992 and has been affiliated to the Arizona Fall League ever since. Other than that, it was also given affiliation to the East Division in 2009. A number of major league clubs are affiliated to it, meaning that their players are sent to this club for training purposes.

The club plays its home matches at the HoHoKam stadium, in Mesa, Arizona. Incidentally, that is also the spring training facility for the major league club, the Chicago Cubs. The Chicago Cubs is one of the major league teams which send its players for training to the Mesa Solar Sox. Other teams include Los Angeles Angels, New York Mets and the Philadelphia Phillies, all of which have been sending its players to the Sox from 2010.

From 1992 to 1997, the team was known as the Sun Cities Solar Sox. The Mesa Solar Sox has won the league title on three occasions, 1992, 98 and 2003. It also won the division title on those years and also won it in 1995. Famous alumni of the club include outfielders Sam Fuld and Ryan Kalish. The manager of the Mesa Solar Sox is Casey Kopitzke.
